Dance Auditions for the World Dance Ensemble

 

Requirements:

1. In order to qualify for the audition, applicants need to complete 3 consecutive semesters of instruction under Shivanna, beginning January 2009.
(Current students are encouraged to continue their study during 2008 in order to enhance their technical skills).
     - Attendance must be consistent and dancers will be closely observed for dedication, punctuality, and the ability to retain choreography.
     - Mandatory weekly classes: 1 technique class and 1 choreography class.

2. Applicants must attend specialty workshops and events hosted by Shivanna, Inc and associated parties.
 

3. Age requirements: 18-40 yrs.

4. Body Type: All dancers must be physically fit and able to endure extended rehearsal periods.

5. Dancers must indicate intent to audition by January 6th in order to reserve class space. Once classes are filled, interested parties will have to wait until 2010 for the next audition period.

6. Beginners are encouraged to audition.

7. Positive Attitude a MUST.

Membership Fees: (Upon Acceptance into Dance Company)
1. $25/member each month

2. Costumes: Prices range from $20-$300 per costume

3. Members must take at least 1 technique class per week with Shivanna
 

Audition Details:
1. Date: Sunday May 17th

2. Time: 1pm-5pm

3. Judging panel will consist of senior company members

4. Repertoire:
    -choreographies from the following workshops:
                      February 15th: Street Salsa
                      March 22nd: Lyrical Expressions
                      April 12th: African Dreams
    -demonstration of specific techniques (techniques will be randomly selected and will vary between applicants)
